Short bio

Architect, PhD in Architectural and Environmental Representation and Survey at the University of Studies “G. d’Annunzio,” he has been an Associate Professor in Drawing since 2020, qualified for Full Professorship in 2021, and deemed eligible for the position of Full Professor at the Politecnico di Milano in 2023.

His research interests lie in the field of graphic and visual sciences, art and heritage education, and the digitization of tangible and intangible heritage, with particular attention to their interdisciplinary applications. The most recurring theme in his recent research projects is the design, implementation, and testing of educational pathways in immersive digital environments, including the development of applied games for heritage education. In 2018, he founded a laboratory within the Faculty of Education at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, now called EARTH_LAB (Laboratory for Digital Environment for Education, ART and Heritage).

He has published around 130 scientific works, including 7 edited volumes and 3 monographs. He serves on the scientific committees of academic journals, editorial series, and international conferences. He is a member of the Management Committee of the ICCD (Central Institute for Catalogue and Documentation) of the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiC), a board member of the scientific society UID (Unione Italiana del Disegno), and President of the interdisciplinary research promotion network IMG NETWORK. Since 2017, he has served as Conference Chair or Program Committee Member at various international and interdisciplinary conferences, including IMG2017, EARTH2018, IMG2019, ARTEDU2020, IMG2021, ARTEDU2022, EARTH2023, D&D2024, IMG2025.

Between 2018 and 2025, he has been the Principal Investigator for several projects funded through competitive grants:

- VAR.HEE. 2018-21: Virtual and Augmented Reality for Heritage Education Experiences
- B_DIGITAL 2020-24: Bozen und Brixen Digitalized
- Digital_FEED 2021-24: Gamification in DIGITAL environments For hEritage Education
- TTC (PRIN) 2023-2025: THROUGH THE CITIES – Co-design of immersive serious games for urban and peri-urban landscape education and interpretation in formal and informal contexts
