In the last two decades an extensive digitalization incremented exponentially the data availability in every sector. As soon as data reached large enough critical masses, a lot of analyses started, which, differently from the past, were performed in a completely automatic and massive way. In many areas algorithms are now taking autonomous decisions without human supervision: starting from the shopping suggestions that we all experience daily, to workers’ selection and evaluation and to logistic problems.

In the banking world automatic trading started very soon, as it could use the large masses of historical data, and now it is the main tool of the major financial markets, with investments and assets allocation driven by automatic algorithms.

Not so fast was the development of data analysis on the customers.
Having advanced analysis tools on customers data means a significant improvement of services’ offer, knowing what the individual customer needs as well as focusing on the most profitable customers or on those who have the potentialities to become the most profitable ones in the future. Customers’ analysis represents now a challenge still at preliminary stage for many traditional banks which must be dealt with soon to remain competitive and open new markets.

Also other sectors of the financial world are just starting a period of sharp growth , such as alternative and digital financial instruments (minibond, AIM, Spac, PIR) which can make investing more accessible to companies and private public, both as diffusion as well as usability.

The workshop will discuss these challenges, involving professionals of the banking sector and academic researchers on these topics.
