• The submitting author must be a unibz member (tenured professor or RTD) and be the article's corresponding author.
• The article will be freely accessible immediately after publication. The journal has to be indexed at least in one of these tools: Directory of Open Access Journals, Web of Science, Scopus, the so-called ANVUR Riviste di fascia A, ideally in the author's MIUR Academic Discipline (settore disciplinare).
• The publishing fee required by the publisher does not exceed 3,000 EUR (22% VAT included) per article. Partial payment is not possible.
• Please note: Payments of publishing fees settled by the author in advance using her/his credit card, by bank transfer or the like cannot be refunded.
• Only publishing fees may be covered. In order to speed up the process, submission fees must be paid in advance by the author and will be reimbursed by the personnel office for teaching staff following the usual procedure via Purchasing Information System (PIS) for travels or other services.
• Each funded publication should refer to the unibz funding, saying for example: "This work was supported by the Open Access Publishing Fund of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano".
• The funded publication must be archived in the unibz research information system (boris) and in the unibz institutional archive (bia).
• Up to 5 publications by the same author can be funded in the same year.
• Applications are processed in chronological order and until the budget is exhausted.
• Only applications received within October 25 are guaranteed to be processed.

The author collects all the relevant information regarding the publication costs. Affiliation with unibz must be specified during the article submission process.

The library will contact the author shortly and if the request is accepted, the library communicates to the publisher all the relevant information for invoicing.

The Autonomous Province of Bozen-Bolzano launched a call for applications regarding refunds of article processing charges. Researchers working at unibz who intent to publish an article in JCR-listed journals (last year Q1 and Q2 quartile!) can submit applications through the Library.

Please note that in order to apply for Province OA funding, researchers must cover publication costs in advance with the "fondo personale/persönlicher Fond" or other unibz funds.

Publication and invoice date cannot be prior to the date of submission of the funding application.
