The library supports unibz researchers at all stages of scientific production: planning, processing, storage via metadata management and analyzing the impact of research products with the help of bibliometric analyses.
The library supports junior and senior researchers by means of specific training courses and advice on publication strategies. The aim is to provide the tools to avoid predatory publishers and consciously choose where to publish.

The Research Information System BORIS maintains comprehensive and up-to-date information about research conducted by unibz. It allows to manage, store and export information about projects and research outputs.

The Bozen-Bolzano Institutional Archive (BIA) is the platform for dissemination of research outcomes of unibz, EURAC Research and Laimburg Research Centre.
No additional data entry is required from researchers to have their records indexed, since all content in BIA is ingested from BORIS (Bozen-Bolzano Research Information System), Converis used at EURAC Research and LaRis after having passed a formal validation process carried out by the library staff.
For bibliometric fields, databases are key tools for keeping track of the number of publications and citations received, as well as the increase in h-index. However, problems such as profile duplication, indexing errors and missing citations often occur. In particular, the library periodically checks the Scopus profiles of unibz research staff in order to correct any errors, after consultation with individual authors. Due to database settings, profiles in Web of Science cannot be managed centrally by the library.
The National Scientific Qualification (ASN) is indispensable for accessing the recruitment procedure as university associate or full professor, based on scientific qualification criteria. A national commission evaluates and assesses the candidates’ scientific qualification. The procedure is based both on quantitative and qualitative criteria.
The library offers support at different stages of the application process: simulations of the quantitative evaluation based on publications in BORIS/BIA or Scopus and Web of Science (depending on the fields) and individual support under request.

The library offers support for ministerial procedures such as AVA, VQR, PRIN calls and offer explanations on the criteria used for the publication analysis in internal evaluation procedures at unibz.
The library therefore responds to requests from internal unibz offices, but also deans of faculties and heads of projects or doctoral degrees.
