Giovanni Pernigotto Awarded at IBPC 2024 in Toronto

Prof. Giovanni Pernigotto won a “Best Paper Award” for his research on the smart energy retrofit of historical buildings.

IBPC, the International Building Physics Conference, takes place every three years and is the premier conference for the global building physics research community. This year's venue was in Toronto, where Prof. Pernigotto presented his paper titled “Smart Energy Retrofit of Historical Buildings: Preliminary Assessment of Its Potential for a Case Study in South Tyrol, Italy,” co-authored by Prof. Andrea Gasparella and researchers Riccardo Albertin and C. Budai from unibz.

"In this work, we discussed the potential benefits of smart technologies and Model Predictive Control solutions to effectively support the energy retrofit of historical buildings, showing the results of the analysis performed for Villa Franzelin in Bruneck-Brunico," says Pernigotto.

The awarded paper results from the research project TeSmES "Smart Technologies for Sustainable Buildings," funded by Stiftung/Fondazione Sparkasse · Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano under the 2022 Fusion Grant call.
