11 January 2025 | from 10:00 to 13:00
At the Open Day, researchers and professors will demonstrate some of the projects and topics they are working on through interactive activities and hands-on experiments. The event at the new campus is open to all!
At the Faculty of Engineering, the various research groups are looking to innovate in the many engineering and computing research projects they're involved in. Are you curious to discover some of their secrets? Our researchers and professors will be on site ready to guide you through interactive stations presenting exciting projects in sustainable energy, mathematics of networks, sound propagation, intelligent artefacts design, software development, flexible electronics, sustainable supply chains, automation, water management, industrial innovation and biometric authentication.
From smart robots to sustainable solutions, the Open Day is the perfect chance to see, touch, and experience the amazing ways engineering is trying to improve the society and economy of South Tyrol. Take part in fun activities and get hands-on with the latest technology. Families, kids, future engineers and tech-lovers are all welcome to discover what it means to shape the world through research and innovation.
At 11 a.m., the Vice-Dean for Studies, Prof. Marco Montali, will present the Faculty, describing its research objectives, its collaboration with companies and institutions in the region, and its teaching offerings.
The event will take place at the Campus NOI Techpark Bozen-Bolzano, on the ground floor of our Faculty of Engineering.
Below are the eleven stands with their activities. From robots to energy production and board games, there is something fun for everyone!
Discover how to harness the power of the sun and wind to produce sustainable energy and how to store it thanks to the incredible potential of green hydrogen. Join us to understand how these technologies work and to see them in action!
Networks are everywhere: in technology, in nature, in society. How do you describe and calculate a network mathematically? Is it a geometric object? Is it a set of numbers? Is it a set of relationships? Actually, it is a bit of all of the above. At our stand, you can physically build a small network and we will explain you how to analyse it mathematically, in a more or less complex way, depending on your skills and curiosity.
What is noise? When is it OK to be exposed to noise and when is it not? How do we create silence? At our stand we will have some activities to make you experience the phenomena related to sound propagation and perception.
Come and play "Startups Assemble"! Build a software startup team finding the right balance among the team members. Build your own startup team by recruiting members with different skills and expertise finding the right balance between development, design, and business areas. Electronic devices are part of our everyday lives, from vacuum cleaners to smartphones. Beyond these conventional technologies, a new frontier is emerging: ultra-thin, flexible electronic components that can be integrated into everyday objects, bent, and even composted. These innovative technologies create groundbreaking interfaces between the digital and physical worlds. Come and explore how thin-film electronics are blurring the boundaries between traditional objects and modern electronic devices.
Did you know that your shopping choices can make the world a better place? Together, we will discover how what we buy affects the planet, workers, and prices. Through fun, interactive activities, we will explore alternative supply chains and see how small changes can have a big impact on social sustainability, the economy and the environment!
Water is a precious treasure that we must not waste! Have you ever wondered how it gets to the taps in your home? And how we can use it more wisely to help the planet? Come and find out all about it at our stand! We will explain how water is distributed, what causes leaks, and, most importantly, how we can all do our part to reduce them and live more sustainably. We’re waiting for you!
Nowadays, many applications require two-factor authentication to grant access to their services. However, users often feel overwhelmed and frustrated by the different methods used by companies. Join us to try out an alternative authentication method based on the individual user’s typing behaviour.
