The Centre’s mission is to transfer scientific knowledge to local and global food systems, acting as a catalyst for the growth of the food sector worldwide. 

The mission includes: 

  • Strengthening the economic, social and environmental sustainability of the food system; 
  • The promotion of a circular economy; 
  • Improving the health a of consumer and local territorial ecosystems dedicated to food production. 

In addition, the Centre is engaged in training researchers and developing an international network of collaborations. Close interaction with companies is a fundamental pillar of the mission, which together with technology transfer, supports the application of acquired results on a laboratory/pilot scale. 

The Centre carries out cutting-edge research exploring the dynamic world of food fermentation. From studying microbial ecosystems to understanding health benefits. The research aims to pave the way for a healthier tomorrow through scientific exploration and to preserve microbial biodiversity.
