We conduct applied research projects in the fields of tourism and sustainability. The centre aims to promote research and knowledge transfer on tourism sustainability in the areas of society, culture, economy, and ecology, which are essential for a transition towards sustainable tourism.
To achieve this goal, we develop, validate, and prototype methods and procedures that strengthen tourism's transformation potential towards sustainability and responsible socio-economic practices.

The Competence Centre there takes an active role by taking part in public debate and activities and to offer its knowledge to regional stakeholders and their associations. It maintains contact with current issues through continuous dialogue with the provincial government, the municipalities and district communities, the tourism destinations, the South Tyrolean Hoteliers and Restaurateurs Association (HGV), the South Tyrolean Agency for Innovation, Development and Marketing (IDM), the Sustainable Mobility Network (Green Mobility) and the cable car industry. It supports partners from the fields of politics, tourism and mobility with ad hoc analyses, short expert opinions, keynote speeches or participation in discussion panels.
