Dual study programmes, courses with a professional orientation and specific scholarships enable companies to retain specialists at an early stage and maintain close contact with unibz. During the training, students acquire company-specific product and process knowledge as well as professional skills.

Dual study programmes, courses with a professional orientation and specific scholarships enable companies to retain specialists at an early stage and maintain close contact with unibz. During the training, students acquire company-specific product and process knowledge as well as professional skills.
The nationwide unique dual study programme is offered in collaboration with Assoimprenditori Alto Adige, the association of local entrepreneurs. Students can combine studies and work. In this case the duration of the programme is extended to four years.
The first year is designed as full-time study, while from the second year study and professional activity alternate. Students can receive a scholarship in the first year, at the end of the first year the employment contract is signed with a company involved in this programme.

The profiles are forwarded to students.
In 2021, an agreement was signed between Assoimprenditori Alto Adige, the association of local entrepreneurs and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano with the aim of increasing interest in STEM study programmes. Companies award scholarships of 10,000 euros each to those students who are admitted with the best grades for a bachelor in industrial and mechanical engineering. In this way, future engineers are supported in their training and at the same time brought closer to corporate reality and production processes. The scholarship holders complete their compulsory internship and thesis in the respective company.

The study programme teaches job-related interdisciplinary skills for working in the field of processing and transformation of wood with a focus on production processes, process optimization, development and management on a technical and administrative level. The forest-wood value chain includes the processes from the raw material to the finished product.
In this multilingual programme, the practical component is very high. At least 50 of the 180 ECTS credit points must be acquired in companies or specialized services.
