Short bio

Ali received his Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering from the K.N Toosi University of Technology, Iran. Currently, he is a Senior Research Fellow on systems engineering for sustainability in the Sustainable Manufacturing Laboratory (SML) at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. He has more than ten years of research experience in Systems Engineering, Uncertainty-based Multidisciplinary System Design Optimization (UMSDO) consultancy, project and research group leadership, and student advising and supervising. Therefore, he is skillful in developing innovative and pragmatic frameworks to address multifaceted complex real-world problems considering the various interconnectedness and uncertainty sources. His current research focuses on transdisciplinary systems engineering for designing and developing resilient and sustainable systems.

Info

Funded Proposals: His postdoctoral research project entitled “SFDD - Sustainable Factory Design Decomposition” received a prestigious two-year postdoctoral research fellow grant in a call for international mobility for researchers (TOWARDS South Tyrol) with at least 10 years of R&D experience funded by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. This project is a joint research project in collaboration with Purdue University Fort Wayne aiming to accelerate the transition of local companies from traditional/smart factories towards future sustainable factories.

Young Scientist Award: He received this award at the 5th International Conference on Quality Innovation and Sustainability (ICQIS), 16-19 June 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal, where he presented a paper entitled “Sustainable Manufacturing Design Decomposition based on Axiomatic Design Theory”.

Featured Paper: His journal article entitled “Resilient Sustainability Assessment Framework from A Transdisciplinary System-of-Systems Perspective” at Sustainability MDPI Journal is selected by editors to feature on the cover of the new issue (Sustainability, Volume 16, Issue 21 (1 November 2024)).
