Oswald Lanz received the degree in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Computer Vision from University of Trento. He has held research positions at FBK Trento and was Head of its Vision Technologies research unit for four years. From 2021 to 2024 he was Endowed Professor for Computer Vision implementing the collaboration with Covision Lab at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. Since 2024 he is Full Professor and Head of the Vision Computing and Learning research group (vision.projects.unibz.it), teaching deep learning and computer vision. He was recipient of Amazon AWS Machine Learning Research Awards in 2020, ACM Multimedia Best Paper award in 2015 and Best Student Paper award at ICIAP in 2007, Co-Director of the ELLIS-VISMAC Winter School 2025 and General Co-Chair of ICIAP 2019. He was inventor of patents on people detection and tracking in video.
