Short bio
Oswald Lanz is professor at the Faculty of Engineering since 2021. Prior to this he was research scientist and head of unit at FBK Trento. He holds a PhD in computer vision and received its degree in Mathematics from University of Trento. His research interests are in computer vision and machine learning, with a focus on structured representation learning for video understanding. He is member of the European Lab for Learning and Intelligent Systems, co-author of paper awards at ACM Multimedia 2015 and ICIAP 2007, and a 2019 recipient of Amazon Machine Learning Research Awards. His work on object detection and tracking has led to international patents. He provides scientific support to Covision Lab, a consortium backed by seven multinational technology companies headquartered in the region.
