Being subject to negative bias has real effects on the performance of individuals and several interventions have been devised to reduce the impact of bias. While effective mitigation techniques exist, the presence of bias must detected first. A test of the ability to recognize bias in the environment would be an important tool, also in order to establish whether it is a skill that can be learnt. We introduce a bias recognition image-based test (BRIT) for the educational setting, discussing its validity and reliability and its association with other established measures of conscious and unconscious bias.
