This interdisciplinary workshop invites experts to commonly reflect on multifunctional agriculture as a broad concept for rural-urban sustainability and eco-social transition, capable of enhancing social innovation, human wellbeing and local development as well as ecological and cultural diversity.
The invited experts will first present their special understanding of multifunctional agriculture and its transformative potential out of their different research backgrounds in form of short impulses, and in a second phase discuss potential, contradictions, opportunities, and limits of the concept.
The outcome of the workshop will be a position paper, indicating the variety of already existing studies, methods and practices.
This will be a starting point to identify knowledge gaps and indicate interest in common research.
