The town of Bruneck-Brunico, with approximately 14,000 inhabitants, is the most important town in the Pustertal-Pusteria Valley. There the Campus of the Bachelor in Tourism, Sport and Event Management and of the Master in Tourism Management of the Faculty of Economics and Management can be found.
Since the end of the war, Bruneck-Brunico has been constantly developing so that it has become a real economic centre and the home of many industrial, commercial and handicraft businesses. The most important economic sector is tourism. Therefore, both in Bruneck-Brunico and in the outlying villages, there are very many modern tourist facilities, as well as numerous restaurants and bars. The heart of the area’s winter tourism is the local Kronplatz-Plan de Corones mountain which soars 2,275 metres above the town.
Over the last ten years Bruneck-Brunico has also developed as an important centre for art and culture. Initiatives in the cultural sector include exhibitions of famous artists, theatre festivals, and concerts, as well as a variety of cultural projects and shows conceived and organised by young local artists.
Bruneck -Brunico offers ideal conditions for practising sport every season of the year. In winter, skiing and snowboarding are almost obligatory, especially in the area served by the excellent ski facilities of Kronplatz-Plan de Corones, otherwise one can take up cross-country skiing, ice skating or ice hockey. During the summer Bruneck-Brunico is an ideal starting point not only for walking across verdant meadows and hillsides, but also for excursions high into the mountains and climbing trips in the nearby natural parks of Riesenferner, Fanes, Sennes-Senes and Prags-Braies.
