Step 1: Application procedure, Declaration of Value, Accommodation & Study Visa
In order to be accepted as an Erasmus Mundus student you have to apply to the consortia through the following links:
European Masters Program in Computational Logic
European Masters Program in Language and Communication Technologies
European Masters Program in Software Engineering
After you’ve been selected by the Consortia, you must do the application for pre-enrolment through the website of the Free University of Bozen - Bolzano. Please fill in the form online, print the whole form out, sign it and send it with a copy of your passport and 2 colour passport photos to the following address: Free University of Bozen-Bolzano Student Secreteriat Via Sernesi, 1 39100 Bolzano Italy
Declaration of Equivalent Value
In order to carry out pre-enrolment and enrolment procedures, foreign Erasmus Mundus students must provide a declaration of equivalent value. This document is issued by the Italian consulate or embassy abroad. It confirms that the qualification obtained by the candidate would grant him/her entry to a similar university course in the country in which the qualifications were achieved. The declaration must be applied for as soon as possible since it can often require long processing times!
Accommodation
The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano tries to accommodate most Erasmus Mundus students in the facilities for university students, managed by the Autonomous Province of South Tyrol. Each year we reserve a number of rooms just for Erasmus Mundus students in a centrally located structure. To reserve one of the rooms you must send us an e-mail or fax, indicating the exact period of your stay. We will inform you as soon as possible whether you receive one of the rooms or if you have to look for some accommodation by yourself. If this is the case, you can have a look at the accommodation offers on our
homepage or send us an advert and we will post it on the university’s notice board. You can also check the local newspapers containing accommodation ads. Rents usually vary from €250 to €500 per month for a room. If you are a non-EU citizen, you need to have accommodation in order to obtain the student visa to enter Italy.
Study Visa for non-EU citizens
Non-EU citizens intending to study in Italy must obtain an Italian student visa before entering Italy. Therefore, you have to apply to the Italian diplomatic authority and ask for a study visa. The International Relations Office will issue and send an invitation letter to the Italian Embassy/Consulate nearest you. The Italian Embassy/Consulate is the authority responsible for accepting your pre-enrolment and checking if you meet the requirements for the visa. The study visa will be issued only on demonstration that you: have suitable accommodation in Italy have enough financial means to support yourself are entitled to medical care in Italy possess the amount of money necessary to travel back to your country, or have already purchased a valid return-ticket.
