Accommodation
The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano tries to accommodate most exchange students in the facilities for university students, managed by the Autonomous Province of South Tyrol. To reserve one of the rooms you must send us an e-mail or fax, indicating the exact period of your stay. We will inform you as soon as possible whether you receive one of the rooms or if you have to look by yourself for accommodation. In this case, you can have a look at the accommodation offers on our homepage  or send us an advert and we will post it on the university’s notice board. You can also check the local newspapers containing accommodation ads. The rent usually varies from €250 to €500 per month for a room.   If you are a non-EU citizen, you need to have accommodation in order to obtain the student visa to enter Italy.

Study Visa for non-EU citizens
Non-EU citizens intending to study in Italy must obtain an Italian student visa before entering Italy. Therefore, you have to apply to the Italian diplomatic authority abroad and ask for a study visa. The International Relations Office will issue and send an invitation letter to the Italian Embassy/Consulate nearest you. The Italian Embassy/Consulate is the authority responsible for accepting your pre-enrolment and checking if you meet the requirements for the visa.   The study visa will only be issued on demonstration that you:   have suitable accommodation in Italy have enough financial means to support yourself are entitled to medical care in Italy
