What exam levels are available?
At FUB Cambridge ESOL exams can be sat at three levels: FCE, CAE and CPE. They all assess your command of English in listening and speaking, writing and reading. With the help of placement tests our staff will help you find the level that suits you.

  • First Certificate in English (FCE)
At Cambridge ESOL level 3 (Council of Europe level B2), this exam is for students with an upper-intermediate command of English.  FCE is the most taken exam at FUB and has the most widespread recognition worldwide. It is taken for employment and study purposes. FUB recognizes FCE as an English-language entry requirement.
  • Certificate of Advanced English (CAE)
This Cambridge level 4 exam (Council of Europe level C1) offers a lower-advanced language qualification mainly for those who need English at work, such as young professionals. Many universities recognize CAE as an English-language entry requirement.
  • Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
A top score in this exam (Council of Europe level C2) certifies that the English speaker has near-native speaker language skills. Consequently it meets  English language entry requirements by British universities and many universities in other English- speaking countries.
