Free Mover of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (Outgoing)

Here follows the list of steps to follow to spend a period of time as a ‘free mover’ student at another university:
  1. Contact your chosen university and check whether and under what conditions (deadlines, prerequisites, university fees, etc) free mover/visiting students are accepted. As soon as you have been accepted, ask the host university for a letter of acceptance. The host university must be an internationally-recognised institution.
  2. Before leaving, agree with your faculty on a study-plan to follow at the host university: the so-called ‘Learning Agreement’. You have to enclose the course programmes you intend to follow and for which you require recognition. A copy of the approved Learning Agreement has to be handed in to the university’s office of international relations.
  3. You achieve the status of a ‘free mover’ once you obtain the authorisation of your faculty and admission acceptance by the host university. This status implies that your term or academic year in your university of origin is ‘frozen’ by the student secretariat: this means you are not liable to pay student fees to the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano, but to the host university, and that you will not be able to sit exams at our university in the exam session immediately following your period abroad.
  4. During your study period abroad you can modify your Learning Agreement by immediately contacting your faculty at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano
  5. On your return you will have to hand in  to the secreteriat of your faculty the certificate of the exams you have passed and this will enable these exams to be recognised by your faculty. No student grants are envisaged for this type of mobility!
