The Faculty of Science and Technology at the Free University of Bolzano-Bozen is offering a three-year Bachelor in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering (L-9) representing 180 credit points.
The degree in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering offers two different courses:
- Mechanical Engineering (preparatory) and
- Logistics and Production Engineering (vocational).
The study plan focuses on providing both an academic-scientific background and practical activities which allow the students to develop professional skills, helping the students entering in the careers world. An important part of the studies programme is represented by internships, stages, seminars and visits in the firms organized directly by the University.
Educational Objectives and Study Regulations
The professional profile designed by the degree in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering of the Free University of Bolzano is characterized by change- and innovation management skills, in some aspects similar to the more classic technological engineer, trained to give his own input in the innovation of products and projects phases, and to manage systems and situations with a high level of complexity, characterized by a strong connection between technological, economic and managerial factors.
Career opportunities
Although the preparatory course is principally designed for those students that want to further continue their studies by attending a Master course, the Bsc graduates will nonetheless be able to learn appropriate skills to work in a professional environment, ranging from self-employement to mechanical, electromechanical, automation, production, energy conversion and plant design branches, as well as the development, control and production of engines and other mechanical facilities.
The graduates of the Logistics and Production course will be provided with the knowledge needed to succeed in many branches, both in self-employement, in manufacturing factories, in services firms, public administration, procurement and stock management, production and firms organization, production sistems management and automation, logistics, project management and management control.
