Step 1: Application procedure, Accommodation & Study Visa
In order to accept you as an Erasmus student at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, the International Relations Office must receive from your home university an e-mail or fax which states that you have been selected as an Erasmus student:
- by 10th June for the 1st semester and the 2nd semester
- by 10th November for the 2nd semester if you do not need an accommodation
Then we will send you by e-mail a link for the online pre-enrolment application. You have to fill out the application form online, print it, sign it and send it to the International Relations Office:
- by 30th June for the 1st semester or the whole academic year
- by 30th November for the 2nd semester
Accommodation
The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano tries to accommodate most Erasmus students in the facilities for university students, managed by the Autonomous Province of South Tyrol. Each year we reserve a number of rooms just for Erasmus students. To reserve one of the rooms you must send us an e-mail, indicating the exact period of your stay
before the 30th of June. We will inform you as soon as possible whether you receive one of the rooms or if you have to look by yourself for accommodation. In this case, you can have a look at the accommodation offers on our
homepage or send us an advert and we will post it on the university’s notice board. You can also check the local newspapers containing accommodation ads. Furthermore, the rent varies usually from € 250 to € 500 per month for a room. If you are a non-EU citizen, you must have accommodation in order to obtain the study visa to enter Italy.
Study Visa for non-EU citizens
Non-EU citizens intending to study in Italy must obtain an Italian student visa before entering Italy. Therefore you have to apply to the Italian diplomatic authority abroad and ask for a study visa. The International Relations Office will issue and send an invitation letter to the
Italian Embassy/Consulate nearest you. The Italian Embassy/Consulate is the authority responsible for accepting your pre-enrolment and checking if you meet the requirements for the visa. The study visa will be issued only on demonstration that you:
