Prof. Rita Franceschini

| Rita Franceschini completed her studies in Romance and Germanic Languages at the University of Zurich and Trieste. From 1993 to 1995 she held a chair in "Didactics of Modern Languages" at the University of Bergamo. From 1995 to 2000 she was appointed as professor of Italian and General Linguistics at the University of Basilea. Betwen 1999 and 2000 she carried out her professor activity at the University of Saarland, in Saarbrücken (Germany) where in 2000 she was appointed as Full Professor of Applied Linguistics (French-Italian) at the Department of Romance Studies. Her main interests concen conversational analysis, linguistic contacts, code switching, second languages acquisition, morphology, neurobiology. |

Prof. Johann Drumbl

| Johann Drumbl studied German philology together with drama and theatre studies at the University of Graz, Rome and Vienna. Since graduating (Dr. Phil.) he has been teaching German Language and Literature at the Italian Universities of Bergamo, Pavia, Florence, Trieste and the Catholic University of Milan. He was Founding Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Modena-Reggio Emilia. His research interests concern literary hermeneutics in situations of language encounter and in the field of translation as well as theorietical and applied dimensions of second language acquisition. |

Prof. Alfred Steinherr

| Prof. Steinherr has been educated at the University of Lausanne (degree in Economics), holds diplomas in Philosophy from the Universities of Madrid and Florence, acquired a M.A. at the McMillan University in Hamilton, Canada and a M.S. in Mathematics at the George Washington University in Washington D.C. Later he held a chair in International Trade and Finance at the University of Leuven and was the Founding Rector of the Free University of Bolzano. Besides that he has had various Visiting Professorships and has engaged considerably in counselling activities e.g. for the IMF, the Commission of the European Communities and the ECU Banking Association. |
