The 5-year plans
The Free University of Bozen/Bolzano was established on 31 October 1997, based on an initial five-year plan conceived by the European Academy of Bolzano (EURAC), under the direction of Dr Friedrich Schmidl, who at the time was in charge of the “University” project.
The first 5-year plan of the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano was written in 2003/2004 and approved by the University Council in its meeting on 24 September 2004 (decision 126). The plan covered the period from 2004 to 2008. The plan was not just an important methodological tool, but it allowed the University to plan its objectives so as to be able to reach the “minimum pre-requisites” required by law.
The university's 5-year plan for the years 2009 to 2013 has been approved by the University Council on 12th Februray 2010.
The Development Office, which is directly working with the Rector, is involved in the providing of information and support, and in the production of the plan based on the information provided by the faculties, the governing bodies (Senate and Council), the Managing Director and the Rector. The new 5-year plan should be debated and approved in February 2010.
