Vision

Creativity, teamwork and internationality

The Faculty of Computer Science trains technicians and managers who will find work in IT companies and researchers who will be able to operate in international and multicultural environments. They will all be characterised by their creative talents and their team work skills. The recent university reform in Italy also allows our graduates to become engineers: both at the end of their undergraduate degree and postgraduate degree they will be able to sit the state exam (just like any other graduate from a computer engineering degree) to obtain the Italian qualifications of “junior engineer” and “engineer” and be able to join the national professional body. Moreover, currently not only do our graduates find work easily, but the work they find is one of the best remunerated.
Attending a course at the Faculty of Computer Science is therefore the key to becoming successful engineers, managers and researchers in scientific, technological and professional environments and so to be main players in the digital world.

The Faculty focuses its teaching on three fundamental concepts:

Creativity
IT embraces all realms of life and has shown itself to be a creative discipline. Graduates of Computer Science are no longer mere programmers, but rather managers and technological innovators; thus key players in leadership.

Teamwork
The ability to be a team player and coordinate and manage teams and projects is indispensable in the IT world. IT is also becoming more and more interdisciplinary: it unites and coordinates disciplines that are extremely diverse, from biology to linguistics. The Faculty concentrates particularly on the development of these important skills, thanks also to the small groups we have and a staff/student ratio that is second to none in Europe (1:6).

Internationality
The market dictates that Computer Science graduates should know how to act on the international level. For this reason, teaching at the Faculty of Computer Science takes place mainly in English. However, it is not only the wide use of English that gives our courses an international character: there are also many other integrated courses offered at a European and international level and an academic team and a student community with members from all over the world to add to our international disposition. Our international appeal does not stop us from also having a strong link with the local area and economy: there are common research initiatives that have already been instigated and the local economy is always taken into consideration when we plan our courses.
Finally, it is important to point out that the Faculty was placed first in the most recent ministerial evaluation of research by the CIVR (Comitato di Indirizzo per la Valutazione della Ricerca) and it has excellent infrastructure (research facilities and library) and facilities (rooms and labs) which considerably improve and facilitate studying at the Faculty.
