Supervisor and Co-Supervisor of the Thesis
The Supervisor of the Thesis must be a Full or Associate Professor of the Faculty, a Researcher of the Faculty, or an External Lecturer employed by the Faculty. The Supervisor is responsible for the scientific aspects of the Thesis.
The Supervisor or the Faculty Council may nominate a Co-Supervisor who collaborates to the tutoring and supervision of the student during the Thesis work; the Co-Supervisor must also be a Full or Associate Professor of the Faculty, a Researcher of the Faculty, or an External Lecturer employed by the Faculty.

The Thesis Defence is public and it is done before a Thesis Commission composed by 1 President and 6 members nominated by the Dean.
The Thesis Defence consists in
- a presentation of the Thesis Dissertation done by the student with the help of slides (10 min)
- a discussion on the topic of the Thesis Dissertation and on general topics of Computer Science (5 min)
The Thesis Defence is held in English
Thesis Evaluation and Mark
The final Degree Mark is composed of:
- the weighted average of the marks achieved in exams, calculated in 110/110 (the General skills, Free choice, Ethics and Language exams are not considered for the mean)
- the points given by the Thesis Commission at the Thesis Defence (max 10 points, plus 1 additional point for Theses based on both the optional and the compulsory Thesis Internships - must be confirmed in written form by the Supervisor)
- the bonus for completing the study course within 3 years (3 points for the July Thesis Session, 2 points for the October Thesis Session, 1 point for the March Thesis session)
The mark thus obtained is rounded to the nearest whole number.
The Thesis Commission can fail a candidate if the Thesis Defence is considered insufficient; in this case the candidate will have to present a new Thesis Dissertation at a later Thesis Session.
The Thesis Commission can assign the mark of 110/110 "cum laude" if the Thesis Defence is considered outstanding; this is only possible if the candidate reaches a mark of 113/110 (according to the composition detailed above), and the Thesis Commission votes the "cum laude" unanimously
