Admission - BSc in Applied Computer Science
Pre-Enrolment
Pre-enrolment sessions
There are two pre-enrolment sessions:
- 1st session: March1st – April 9th, 2010
- 2nd session: April 12th - August 20th, 2010
Participation in the first session is strongly advised, as it will allow the candidate to have a better chance of obtaining a place on the course - the vast majority of places (90%) will probably be assigned in the first session - and to complete enrolment procedures in plenty of time before the beginning of the University year.
N.B.: those who pre-enrol for the BSc in Applied Computer Science in the first session cannot pre-enrol for the same course in the second session. They can, however, pre-enrol for other undergraduate courses.
The application for pre-enrolment – which is possible for more than one degree – must be done through the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano’s website.
Those who do not have an Internet access can use the computers provided for this purpose by the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano (in Bolzano and Bressanone). The form must be filled in online and must be printed out entirely and signed. It must be handed in or sent by post to the Student Secretariat of Bozen/Bolzano:
- by April 9th 2010, 12.00 a.m.
- by August 20th 2010, 12.00 a.m.
Attention! Non-EU citizens resident abroad must also pre-enroll trough the Embassy: this year the exact timespan has not been defined yet, but should be between April and May; see below for details.
At the same time they must also ask the Embassy to issue them a
declaration of equivalent value (dichiarazione di valore in loco) for their previous study title, see
Study in Italy.
Applications that arrive without a signature, without all the necessary enclosures, after the deadline, by email or by fax will be considered null and void.
The date of the postmark will not be taken into consideration!
Pre-Enrollment documents
The following documents must be enclosed with the pre-enrolment form:
- a passport-size colour photo;
- a photocopy of a valid identity card or passport (front/back);
- a dossier written in Italian, German or English composed as follows:
| Dossier |
Study curriculum
Copy of the report cards issued by the candidate's secondary school on plain paper with marks for all subjects from the third-last and second-last years of secondary school.
If these years were spent in a school abroad, it is also necessary to enclose a document issued by that secondary school detailing the range of marks awarded and the mark from which is generally considered a pass, as well as the highest mark available.
This can be presented in the original language. |
Translation of the report card
Translation of the report card into one of the three official teaching languages of the University (this does not have to be certified). |
Personal Statement Letter
A personal statement letter that is no longer than one side of typed A4, written in English, Italian or German, in which the candidate explains why he/she would like to enrol for this degree programme. |
Knowledge of Language
If the subjects taught at the school do not include German, Italian or English, the candidate must enclose a certificate attesting to knowledge of at least one of these languages. |
In the event that the candidate wishes to pre-enrol for more than one programme, an application form and accompanying documentation must be completed for each faculty.
Evaluation can then only take place from the documentation presented with the application form by the candidate. It is the candidate’s responsibility, therefore, to make sure that the application is complete. In order to avoid long queues, it is recommended that the delivery of these documents does not take place in the last few days before the deadline.
Special pre-enrolment procedure for Non-EU candidates resident abroad
Non-EU candidates resident abroad must carry out an additional
pre-enrollment procedure through the Italian Embassy/Consulate in the country in which their academic qualifications is awarded. The candidate will be requested to fill-out a different pre-enrollment form provided by the Italian Embassy/Consulate. The deadlines set by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca, www.miur.it) must be respected: this year the exact timespan has not been defined yet, but should be
between April and May, see
Study in Italy. The Italian Embassies/Consulates are the only ones autorized to accept and send applications to the University: if candidates do not follow this procedure, the application that they delivered directly to the University will be declared null and void.
At the same time candidates must also ask the Italian Embassy/Consulate to issue them a
declaration of equivalent value (dichiarazione di valore in loco) for their previous study title, see
Study in Italy.This document is
required for the enrollment.
It is the candidate’s responsibility to make sure that the application is complete.
The Italian authorities abroad are the only ones able to accept and send applications to the University.
Before matriculation the NON-EU citizens resident abroad have to prove their (basic) knowledge of Italian. The Italian Ministry of Education has fixed this
Italian language exam for the beginning of September 2010, see:

http://www.study-in-italy.it/studying/info-03.html. The exam is held at the
