What is your personal Web Folder?
Professors and researchers have the possibility to publish a personal homepage on the web server of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.
How do I start using my personal Web Folder?
This service is available for the teaching staff of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. Make your request for activation via Ticket (
HelpDesk).
The authors are granted access via WebDAV, which is an open standard for making data available over the internet. Therefore, users with different operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux, …) are able to work on their files and folders. It is also possible to access the files from outside of the campus, just as if they were working locally.
Accessing Web Folders
Using the Web Folders Context menu for files and folders
if you click your right mouse button on a file or folder you get different possibilities (for example renaming and deleting files and folders, creating subfolders).
Drag'n'drop function to upload and download files
If you hold your left mouse button clicked on an object you can drag and drop it easily to another place.
In the Web Folder some functions of the Windows Explorer are not available, for example moving files and folders. You should not work with your files directly on the server. It's better to download them first, make your changes and then upload them again.
Web folder Properties Capacity
The capacity of your folder is limited. You can save about 100 MB of data.
Starting files
following starting files are allowed: index.htm and index.html. The starting file index.html is already present in your folder and contains the information that the site is under construction. Please replace it with your own starting file.
Allowed file formats
Executable files (.exe, .dll, .asp, ...) cannot be saved on the server. If you would like to save an executable file in your private folder, you have to zip it first.
ATTENTION: Error messages
If you got some error messages, please keep in mind the rules mentioned above.
If there are still open questions please contact the webmaster via Ticket (
