Internship: Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management Sciences, Major in Sport and Event Management (enrolled in the academic year 2008/2009 and onwards)


Students of the Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management Sciences, Major in Sport and Event Management have to carry out at the conclusion of their 4th semester an obligatory internship within a company of the duration of minimum 500 hours.

Conditions of the internship: it must provide the intern with opportunities to put into practice, within the respective areas of the company/institution assigned, the theoretical knowledge acquired during the course of studies.
The duties undertaken by the intern may be carried out within a company department or, preferably, be part of a project. In no case may the duties carried out by the intern include helping-out services of any kind whatsoever.

Hosting institution in Italy: the maximum number of interns that can be accepted by one company depends on the number of employees engaged in the permanent workforce of the said company according to these established standards:
  • for a firm employing up to five permanent employees, not more than one intern;
  • for a firm employing between six and nineteen permanent employees, at most two interns at one and the same time;
  • for a firm with twenty or more permanent employees: the number of interns taken on at one and the same time may not exceed 10% of the permanent workforce

(see the Ministerial Decree of 25.03.1998 no. 142, art. 1).


Maximum duration: students can carry out an educational or orientational internship for a maximum of 12 months. The same rule holds true for students who have recently graduated and who, within 18 months of completing their course of studies, wish to attend doctoral training programmes or courses of specialization. For those with handicaps the maximum duration is of 24 months (see the Ministerial Decree of 25.03.1998 no. 142, art. 7).
