OBJECTIVES
Review of topics of precalculus mathematics.
SYLLABUS
- Set of numbers. Operators. Highest common factors and lowest common factors. Fractions. Cancelling. Percentages. Decimals and significant digits. Basic algebraic operations. Laws of indices. Factorization.
- Direct and inverse proportionality. Transposition of formulae.
- Equations with one unknown. Identities. First grade.
- Simultaneous equations by substitution, by elimination, by comparison.
- Quadratic equations. Higher degrees equations.
- The Cartesian plane.
- Straight line graphs. Graphical solution of simultaneous equations. The parabola. Intersections between the parabola and a line. Inequalities. Graphical solution of inequalities of two unknowns.
- Exponentials functions. Exponentials equations.
- Logarithms. Laws of logarithms. Logarithmic equations.
- Trigonometric functions. Trigonometric theorems. Changing from polar to Cartesian coordinates.
